Appreciative Education in Action Webinar

Appreciative Academic Intervention

Tuesday, Mar. 15, 2022 | Noon – 1 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Featuring:
Mike Dial, M.Ed., Associate Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising, University of South Carolina
Paige McKeown, MS.Ed., Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Intervention, University of South Carolina

In this session, presenters will share a brief theoretical grounding for the work of academic intervention culminating in a focus on Appreciative Advising (Bloom et al., 2008). Facilitators will guide attendees through the Appreciative Advising theory-to-practice framework and propose emerging effective practices in academic intervention aligned with the six phases of the framework. Suggestions will be offered for determining those best suited for the work of academic intervention based on the principles presented. Finally, attendees will be challenged to apply the Appreciative Advising framework to their own individual and institutional approaches to academic intervention.
