FAU Repertory Dance Theatre Ensemble 2018

Wednesday, Jan 24, 2018

Florida Atlantic University’s Repertory Dance Theatre Ensemble celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with several premieres and a dance film. Shows take place on Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m., and Saturday. Feb. 3 at 1 and 7 p.m., in the University Theatre, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. Single tickets are $20; FAU faculty, staff and alumni are $16; FAU students are $12; and group prices are available. Tickets can be purchased at www.fauevents.com or 1-800-564-9539.

The concert features five works by five choreographers. Danielle Jolie Dale-Hancock and Crystal Patient have created solos and a duet accompanied to live piano trio which includes Rebecca Lautar, professor and chair of the Department of Music, at the piano. “Duo Dansa” is quite simply Dale-Hancock and Brooks performing two simultaneous solos using dresses and chairs as props and a duet that brings the dancers together.

Guest choreographer Jennifer Petuch has two pieces on the program. “Mobile Mirrors,” a dance film created in collaboration with Brooks, is best described as a mesmerizing marriage of disco balls and cracked mirrors. In her second piece, Petuch greatly expands upon dance and technology with “Agree to Disagree” in which three women discover the value of freedom. Visual artist and former FAU faculty Henning Haupt’s 18-piece canvas exhibit “Journey of the Magenta” (a few of which will be on display) was the jumping off point for “Magenta Moves,” an upbeat quartet.

Maryanne Ellspermann, Delaney Keefe and Allison Kramer are new students to the dance program who will join FAU alumna Chelsea Roth and Lindsey Parker, and Theatre Lab’s Lauren Palmieri-Mark, who are returning to perform with the company this season. The program is subject to change without notice. For more information about the Repertory Dance Theatre Ensemble and the dance program at FAU, contact clarence.brooks@fau.edu.
