Faculty/Staff Mentors Needed for New Mentoring Project

Help foster a culture of mentoring at FAU and make an even greater impact in the life of a student!

The Mentoring Project is seeking faculty/staff mentors for Connections, a new initiative to assist students with meeting their academic goals and completing their degrees. Connections will initially target students who historically have had the lowest levels of college completion – students majoring in STEM programs from first generation and underserved minority populations. Ultimately, the goal is to help all students reach their full potential by providing compassionate mentors. Participation is welcome from faculty/staff in all colleges across FAU.

Connections begins this fall with a goal of connecting more than 300 students. Mentors are asked to commit to at least two mentees for one year, meet with their mentees at least three times each semester, attend events when available, and address any concerns regarding their mentees with The Mentoring Project staff. To participate, please complete the Registration Form by Sept. 2, 2015.

The Mentoring Project also will create a clearinghouse of existing programs. If your department offers a mentoring program, please email the program name and contact person to mentoring@fau.edu.

For more information, visit www.fau.edu/mentoringproject, email mentoring@fau.edu or stop by The Mentoring Project office in GS-2, Rm. 225 on the Boca Raton campus.
