Join Facilities Management and the Mission Green Student Association in celebrating Campus Sustainability Day on Thursday, October 22.

Join Facilities Management and the Mission Green Student Association (MGSA) in celebrating Campus Sustainability Day 2015 on Thursday, October 22. The goal of Campus Sustainability Day is to create awareness and involvement to advance sustainability through education and community engagement. Please support this important cause.

The day's highlights include:

  • 10 - 10:45 a.m. – Kickoff with a Celebratory March to celebrate FAU's ecologically sensitive areas. This is a guided, educational tour of one of the FAU Preserve areas and will initiate at the Tortuga Trail and end on the Breezeway.
  • 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Campus Sustainability Day Mini-Fair – MGSA representatives, along with other eco-friendly student clubs and organizations, will be promoting sustainable practices. Some initiatives include campus cleanups, tailgate recycling, and reducing our carbon footprint.
  • 2 – 2:15 p.m. – Welcome President Kelly! Dr. Kelly will speak about his vision of a sustainable University.
  • 2:15 p.m. – Launch of the "Keep FAU Beautiful" campaign. Modeled after the national "Keep America Beautiful" campaign, "Keep FAU Beautiful" will promote sustainability, environmental awareness and responsible stewardship of the environment. The first "Adopt a Spot" initiative also will be launched. Modeled after the national "Adopt a Highway" and "Adopt a Space" programs, "Adopt a Spot" will solicit commitment from University groups, including student groups, faculty and staff, departments, colleges, etc., to maintain a designated area of the campus. With support and direction from Facilities Management, MGSA will be the first to participate in this initiative with adoption of green space along the Breezeway.
