These eggs were spawned from our resident Sciaenops ocellatus, red drum, broodstock at Harbor Branch. The ripe female fish with ovulate or release the eggs into the water column. And the running males will pass over the eggs, fertilizing them with their milt/sperm. It takes about 24-36 hours for the fertilized eggs to develop and hatch. The hatched larvae were raised in our hatchery to a post larval fish. Moved to our nursery grow out systems and raised to a size of approximately 200 grams. And finally stocked into our Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture System (IMTA) for grow out experiments.
