This picture is part of a photovoice study on students attending college while homeless. Five students took photographs they felt represented their lived experiences attending college while homeless and explained them to each other in a group. This student stated: "I took this photo while walking my dog. I was running late, but I took time to look up at the light. I usually use this time to pray or contemplate things in my life." Students discussed the photo and developed the following shared alternative meaning: "Similar to this man-made light, many students have to create their own opportunities in life." Their "call to action" or proposed solution is that universities hire mentors to help show them the way, especially mentors who have experienced homelessness and been successful in college.
