Nucleate Boiling Phenomenon

In this picture, a 1 mm by 1 mm fin is illustrated with a single bubble on the fin. This phenomenon is called nucleated boiling, which dissipates a considerable amount of heat from a heated surface. The process of capturing the bubble is quite complicated, and a laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) thermometry technique with high-speed cameras was used to measure temperature distribution around the bubble to understand the process. The color map on the right-hand side of the figure shows the temperature of liquid around the bubble measured using LIF and image processing techniques. The final goal of this project is to understand heat transfer mechanisms involved in nucleate boiling to manage better heat transfer for cooling purposes in electronic industries.
