Angle Weaving

Angle Weaving

Photography by Jason Hedetniemi, Ph.D., Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College

After teaching students the unit circle, the researcher was inspired to create this image. It features 100 circles, randomly colored either red or blue. In each of the 100 circles, two different sets of 10 parallel chords are drawn. The chords are generated using a random number generator, a bit of linear algebra and a bit of trigonometry.
