A Marvel of an Art Deco Aviation Terminal, New Orleans Lakefront Airport - This airport terminal at New Orleans Lakefront Airport is an example of the popular art deco style of the 1930s. It is a living museum for its visitors and demonstrates the importance of historical preservation. This airport terminal still serves the needs of contemporary air travelers. Dedicated in 1934, the original cost of the building was $4.5 million, the equivalent of $83 million today. It was the first major airport in the region.
