The researcher undertook a research project to examine the Intersection of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy in Jamaican Preschools. This photo demonstrates the use of play-based instruction, a principle in DAP. Though it appears that this child is "simply playing," he is in the process of learning colors, numbers, counting, symmetry and a host of other concepts. This photo demonstrates that play-based learning is an effective teaching methodology with young children, a DAP principle.
