Simultaneous expression of cytosolic green fluorescent protein (GFP) and mCherry-tagged Distracted protein under the control of the Distracted gene regulatory sequences shows its gene [removed] green) and protein localization (purple). The labeling reveals that the protein is most abundant in somas and the absence of co-labeling with GFP in some somas implies that the protein negatively regulates its own gene expression.
