Saw-toothed Grasshopper

 Photo contest - Saw-toothed Grasshopper

Serrations make it unique in the world. The vibrant green color camouflages this large lubber grasshopper. With a distinctive saw-toothed crest on its pronotum, Prionolopha serrata is unique in its classification because it is the sole member of the genus Prionolopha. The photo was taken in Guyana in March 2025, near the end of the dry season in the rainforest.
