Fantastical World

Here lies a hidden and fantastical world, this one at Allpahuayo-Mishana National Reserve in Northern Amazon River Basin of Peru. With slow cadence and patience, the fantastical world reveals itself in many ways throughout the day and night. These creatures were seen once and never again during my 10-day exploration of the protected area, or rainforest floodplain, during the dry season. There were many more fantastical creatures seen during my stay at the lower rainforest, some documented and others that fled, flew, or scurried away upon near approach.
