Conch Sunset

Photo contest - Conch Sunset

The sunsets are spectacular at West End, the western most point on Grand Bahama Island. It takes about one hour by car to travel from Freeport, Grand Bahama, to West End. This sunset location is about 60 miles from Fla. On this particular evening the sunset, the waves and the adult queen conch shell were so picturesque that many photos were taken. This is a wide-angle shot that captures the beauty of the moment. The FAU Queen Conch Lab has a partnership project with Blue Action Lab on Grand Bahama Island. The Mobile Labs are used to raise queen conch larvae to juvenile stage for conservation, restoration, and education. The queen conch is important for the culture, nutrition, livelihood and coastal seas of countless communities in The Bahamas.
