    It is on each of us to take the personal precautions necessary to protect our campus community. For the health and safety of all, it is expected everyone wear face coverings when inside buildings, including in classrooms. It is also expected that face coverings be worn when outside in large groups.

In-person ceremonies for the Class of 2020 will be held on Tuesday, October 26th and Wednesday, October 27th.

Ceremonies will be webcast live at https://www.fau.edu/grad/

Please note, if the response for these ceremonies surpass our expectations, additional ceremony times will be added which may require that additional ceremonies be added on October 28th and possibly October 29th.

The Commencement Ceremony will last approximately two hours. In order to maintain an orderly and dignified ceremony, one that you and your fellow classmates will want to remember, all graduates and their guests are expected to be present for the entire ceremony. As you make your decision concerning your attendance at Commencement, please keep this in mind.

 

How to RSVP

On Thursday, September 16th, 2020 graduates will receive an email in their FAU email account from the FAU Registrar’s Office. Graduates who wish to attend an in-person ceremony must RSVP to one of the available ceremonies. As ceremony times fill up, they will be removed as available options. Only ceremony dates and times that have space available will appear when you click the RSVP link.

Guest Tickets

    • Seating in the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium is limited and admission to the Commencement Ceremony is by ticket only (graduates do not require a ticket).
    • Only students who RSVP by October 6th will be eligible to receive guest tickets. Tickets will be emailed to their FAU email account on October 8th.
    • Doors to the auditorium open 1 hour ahead of the ceremony. Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive early to allow adequate time to park and pass through the security screening. Guests arriving 20 minutes before the ceremony will be delayed from entering the auditorium until the procession of graduates concludes.
    • There are no extra tickets available to these events. Ceremonies will be webcast live at https://www.fau.edu/grad/ for friends and family who are unable to attend.

      Guest Accommodations : Handicapped seating for guests is available on a first come first served basis. Ushers will be on hand at the event to guide guests to appropriate seating.
      Infant and Child Ticket Policy : Infants and children, 2 years and younger will not require a ticket as long as they are sitting on an adult's lap. All other guests will need a ticket.

 

Caps and Gowns

All graduates must wear full FAU customized academic regalia to participate in the commencement ceremony. Graduates will not be allowed to participate in the ceremonies without FAU’s customized regalia. The deadline to place an online order is October 5th . See below for pricing. **A $400 deposit (Hold Fee) is required for all Doctorial rentals. The Hold Fee will be refunded upon rental return.

Graduate Check-In & Procession

Degree candidates should report to the Live Oak Pavilion 1 hour before the beginning of the ceremony. The Live Oak Pavilion is located across from Parking Garage 1 and can also be accessed through the Student Union. For further directions, please use the campus map.

The procession of graduates begins 20 minutes before the start of your ceremony. To ensure you are able to walk in the procession we strongly advise you arrive 1 hour early. For example, if your ceremony is at 12:00pm, the procession of graduates will start at 11:40am. Please plan accordingly so you do not miss any part of your special day. Should you arrive after the procession has started, you will be seated directly in the auditorium with your fellow graduates.

GRADUATE ACCOMMODATIONS : Please notify the Registrar's Office at commencement@fau.edu or call (561) 297-2209 at least 10 days prior to the ceremony if you, as a student participating in the ceremony, will require an accommodation due to a disability.

Arrival: Doors to the auditorium open 1 hour ahead of the ceremony. Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive early and allow for adequate time to park and pass through the security screening. Guests arriving 20 minutes before the ceremony will be delayed from entering the auditorium until the procession of graduates concludes.

Security: All bags and personal belongings will be inspected upon entering the Student Union. As such, please bring only essential items to the graduation ceremony. We suggest the use of clear plastic/vinyl bags to help speed the security checking process. Plan your arrival to ensure adequate time to go through security.
