Project Narrative:

 After reviewing the current hardware, software and physical accommodations regarding the ADA stations at the Boca Raton, Jupiter and Treasure Coast Campus Libraries, library staff, with the support of Farley Leiriao, Assistant Director for Diversity Student Services, recommend replacing the ADA PCs (2 PCs for the Boca Raton Campus Library, 1 PC for the Jupiter Campus Library,  and 1 PC for the Treasure Coast Campus Library), purchasing the Plustek Book Reader V100 Scanner for the Boca Raton and Jupiter Campus Library, and replacing the outdated CCTV scanner with a SmartView Synergy Video Magnifier at the Boca Raton Campus Library. 

 The software recommendations include upgrading to the new JAWS Pro software with a 10 user network license covering the Boca Raton, Jupiter, and Treasure Coast Campus Libraries, and adding Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11.0 software to the ADA stations at the Boca Raton, Jupiter, and Treasure Coast Campus Libraries. 

 Finally, tables that are more conducive to ADA wheelchair accessibility should replace existing ADA station tables at all three campus libraries.  The ADA furniture includes surrounding walls that will help contain sound while using the Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium software and to help create a quieter setting for those using such assistive technology programs such as JAWS.  The surrounding walls would also help to provide additional privacy for those using Zoomtext. Hector also worked closely with Public Services, Ethan, and Pam on these requests.

We are legally mandated to provide good access to those with disabilities.  Even if we were not, we would still want to implement this project, which strongly supports Goal 1, providing increased access to higher education.  It allows those with disabilities to gain access to resources which would otherwise be unavailable to them.
