Livability Studies

The BCDC has engaged the Schools of Urban and Regional Planning, Social Work, and Architecture in a series of funded research studies for the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Florida Department of Transportation.  These studies are aimed at examining the impacts of the Long Range Transportation Plan (2035), infrastructure for active transport, mass transit, and transit-oriented redevelopment (TOR) in the Broward metropolitan region. The investigations will expand to include an assessment of Greenhouse Gas impacts with the introduction of mass transit (light-rail, and bus rapid transit) to offset trips by single occupant vehicles. These investigations will be undertaken by the School of Civil, Environmental, and Geomatics Engineering.

Place Design Pty. Ltd. in Fortitude Valley, QLD (Australia) developed these interactive images to help explain the Mobility Hub concept, which represents a paradigm shift in transportation planning for Broward.
