Upcoming SAVI Events:
Oxfam America Hunger Banquet March 14, 2019 (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.)

Hunger Banquet

Hunger is not about too many people and too little food: it is about power. Its roots lie in global inequalities and access to resources. The results are illiteracy, poverty, war, and the inability of families to grow or buy food. Our rich and bountiful planet produces enough food to feed every man, woman, and child on earth; nevertheless, hunger affects everyone, in countries rich and poor, in urban and rural areas.

The Oxfam Hunger Banquet will take place at Florida Atlantic University on March 14. Attendees will separate into groups which represent of the world’s three levels of development. Food will be served according to which group the audience is in to raise awareness for a hungry world.

This event is free and open to all FAU students. Click here to sign-up for the event!

All People's Day- Saturday, March 23rd
For this event, we will be aiding the nonprofit All People's Day in their festival in Delray Beach. The event will be taking place from 11am to 3pm. For more information on the event, please click here.
Other SAVI Programs Include:
ExtravaCANza is a program that takes place on Homecoming each year on the Boca Raton campus where student teams compete to build a sculpture made from canned goods that relate to that year's Homecoming theme. From there, the canned goods are then donated to a community agency to be able to help our neighbors in need.
The 2018 ExtravaCANza contest netted over 2,100 pounds of canned goods.
Days of Service
SAVI hosts three Days of Service each year: WoW (Weeks of Welcome, at the end of August), the FAU Homecoming Day of Service, and the MLK Day of Service.
Each Day of Service seeks to connect students with a variety of community partners, in an effort to make a difference and learn about a given social issue. Social issues that we've worked with include: Disaster Relief, Children and Youth, Poverty (Hunger and Homelessness), Animal Rights and Welfare, and much more!
