Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP)

The FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute sponsors the Ph.D. NGP. We are currently recruiting applications for the 2024 Fall matriculation class. We are looking for bright, motivated students who have an inquisitive mind and a passion for neuroscience research. Work alongside world-renowned faculty who are utilizing novel techniques to perform cutting-edge research in cellular, molecular, and biomedical neuroscience; sensorimotor, cognitive, and behavioral neuroscience; and theoretical and computational neuroscience. At FAU we believe that celebrating and valuing diversity and inclusivity generates innovative education, inspired curricula, high-quality research, effective problem-solving, and general creativity, by establishing an environment in which all students can achieve their potential.

Graduate Admission Requirements 

Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Charles E. Schmidt College of Science
Major:    Neuroscience
Graduate training begins during the Fall semester and students are considered Full-time.

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.4 (Relevant BS or BA degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology, or a related or relevant field)
  • Graduate GPA of 3.4* (if applicable)
  • GRE test scores are optional
  • Statement of personal objectives in essay form 
  • Official transcripts
  • Three letters of recommendation (preferably from academic/research advisors)
  • * The Admissions Committee considers all aspects of the application, not only GPA, but also what courses an applicant has taken, research experience, letters of recommendation, and the applicant's personal statement. Strong qualifications in some areas may offset weaker qualifications in other areas.

  • Please be sure to pay the application fee to submit application. *By December 1st.
Applications are accepted from the beginning of September through December 1st at 5p.m. EST, for admission the following year. Complete applications include transcripts, recommendation letters, and all supporting documentation. Late applications are not accepted or reviewed. *It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all materials, including recommendation letters, are submitted by the deadline.
