Working as a paramedic in the emergency department of JFK Medical Center, the job duties and responsibilities of the internship are as follows: Triage and assess patients, receive patients from fire-rescue and ambulance services, obtain past medical histories and medications taken by the patient, perform wound care and splinting to injuries, gain intravenous access and perform phlebotomy, collect laboratory specimens, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and airway management, conduct detailed or full body examinations when necessary, interpret electrocardiograms, and transport patients to the cardiac cath lab, CT scans, MRIs, X-ray, and surgical procedures. I will be working alongside doctors, nurses, other paramedics, and various hospital staff during the course of the internship.

Sea Turtle Program Interns assist LMC staff during peak sea turtle nesting season to monitor sea turtle nesting activities and provide the general public with sea turtle encounter experiences. Interns are responsible for leading educational programs on the beach as nesting sea turtles lay their eggs, as hatchling sea turtles are released following recovery, and as they assist staff biologists with sea turtle nest inventories and field data collection.
