Dr. Russell Ivy | Senior Associate Provost for Programs and Assessment

Dr. Russell Ivy


Russell Ivy serves as the Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. In this capacity, he is responsible for providing leadership in formulating and administering university policies for student learning outcomes assessment, academic program review, institutional and program-based accreditation, review of new degree proposals, and other projects related to academic programs and curriculum. He leads FAU's Team for Assurance of Student Learning (TASL).

Ivy received both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Geography from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Florida. He joined FAU in 1992, and in addition to professorial duties, served 5 years as Associate Chair and 9 years as Chair of Geosciences. During that time, he led the department in the development of a doctoral program in Geosciences. Additionally, he has served as Interim Dean of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science since August of 2013. He holds the current rank of Professor in Geosciences.




Dr. Mihaela Metianu | Executive Director for the Center for Global Engagement

Dr. Mihaela Metianu


Mihaela Metianu serves as the Executive Director for the Center for Global Engagement, and provides oversight to the following areas: Education Abroad, International Student Services, International Employee and Scholar Services, and the Intensive English Institute. Key functions include international agreements, global travel safety and security, academic study abroad, international student support services, immigration services and compliance, international recruitment, foreign credential evaluations, and global student engagement initiatives. In addition, she provides leadership to university-wide Global Perspectives and Participation Platform and related internationalization initiatives.

Mihaela joined FAU in 2006 as the Director of Student Affairs for the Wilkes Honors College, and in 2008 she became Director of International Services. She assumed the Executive Director role in 2016 upon the establishment of the Center for Global Engagement. She holds a Bachelor’s degree (International Studies & Economics) from the University of Miami, and a master’s degree (Multicultural/Multilingual Education) and Doctor of Education degree (Higher Education Administration) from Florida State University.




Edyta Mika-Klimczak | Director for International Student Services

Edyta Mika-Klimczak


Originally from Poland, Edyta came to the US in 1990s where she completed her BS degree in Psychology at FAU and then continued a Professional Graduate Program in Warsaw Institute of Sociology and Higher Education. Her professional path embraces working at Siemens in US and Europe, where she held a variety of roles within the departments of Education and Human Resources; conducting an educational project abroad with Higher Education Institute in Warsaw, Poland; and progressively evolving experience in the US higher education Institutions.

In her role of the Director for International Student Services, Edyta overseas all procedures that ensure regulatory compliance, and support cultural adjustment and integration of international students in their educational endeavor at FAU. Edyta is also involved with NAFSA Trainer Corps, and she Co-Chaired the FAU Diversity and Inclusion Committee.




Madison McShane | Director for Education Abroad

Madison McShane


Madison McShane serves as the Director for Education Abroad, and oversees the development and programming of short and long-term study abroad opportunities that allow undergraduate and graduate students to travel the world while earning academic credit toward the completion of their degree. In addition, Madison provides oversight of the exchange partnerships, which allow us to welcome international exchange students to FAU. Madison heads the FAU Global Travel Safety & Security Committee as well as manages the travel roster for study abroad students and university related student travel. Through collaboration with students, staff, faculty, and the local and global community, Madison supports the Universities internationalization initiatives and passionately engages students in opportunities to become culturally competent leaders.

Madison is a two-time alum of FAU! She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Communication and a Master’s degree in Multicultural Education. In 2013, Madison joined FAU University Advising Services as an Academic Advisor and served as the liaison for International Services and Education Abroad. In 2015 she joined the Education Abroad team as Assistant Director and assumed the role of Director in 2019.




Adriana Chow-Ellison | Director for Global Academic Services

Adriana Chow-Ellison


Adriana Chow-Ellison serves as the Director for Global Academic Services. This department oversees faculty and staff employment visa services, faculty and staff permanent residency status services, Fulbrght for scholars program, the Exchange Visitor Program for J-1 Scholars, Professors and Interns, as well as the foreign credential evaluation service for FAU students, and sponsored student support services. This office collaborates with the Provost Office, Office of General Counsel, Human Resources Department and FAU Departments and Colleges requiring support and guidance on immigration matters.

Adriana holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Florida Atlantic University. She has over 16 years of  experience in the higher education field with a focus on compliance, immigration, human resources management, and policy development and implementation.
