This project seeks to accurately count and distinguish how many people are in a specified area without violating any personal privacy. The implemented system provides high accuracy counts via the use of specific sensors that operate on low power. A microcontroller serves as the main processor and is paired with infrared sensors.
Community Benefit: In the past year, COVID-19 has greatly impacted our everyday lives. FAU is looking to develop safe ways for students to return to campus. The designed device will be used in the library to monitor the traffic of students and faculty, ultimately preventing unnecessary overcrowding.
