- Do you prefer to learn at your own pace?
This asynchronous online course is six-weeks in which you will focus on a new phase of the Appreciative Advising Theory-to-Practice Framework each week.

- Do you prefer to learn in real time with others?
Learning in the Institute will take place synchronously (in real time) for four hours for four consecutive days in small groups where a couple of phases of the Theory-to-Practice Framework will be explored each day.

- Do you prefer to learn by yourself through reading, writing, and reflecting?
You will watch a video(s), read assigned readings, and respond to posts each week on your own time and pace. You will write a reflection paper both mid-way through the course and at the end of the course.

- Do you prefer to learn in a group setting through listening, thinking, and discussing?
Through interactive activities, discussions, videos, etc., you will learn collectively with others in your small group.

- How much time should I expect to devote each week?
On average, participants spend approximately 2-3 hours per week, and in total, spend an average of 15 hours on the course.

- How much time will I be expected to commit?
Over the course of the institute, participants will spend 15 hours in session (not including a 15 minute break scheduled each day). Participants are expected to actively engage and attend the entire Institute as the course meets synchronously and not on-demand.

Participants enroll in the online course from all over North America and the world. As much as possible, participants are placed into groups from a range of institutions, nations, and positions to bring a diversity of experiences and perspectives to enrich learning.

A facilitator and a co-facilitator who are trained in the Appreciative Advising framework will facilitate your learning and will serve as resources for you throughout the course.

A leader in the Appreciative Advising movement and trained in facilitating interactive learning will serve as your facilitator throughout the Institute.
