The Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion (ESHP) offers an interdisciplinary graduate emphasis in three different tracks: Exercise Physiology; Health Promotion; Strength & Conditioning. The Health Promotion track is now offered as a fully online program. See Graduate Student Brochure below for required coursework for each respective track. ESHP students who successfully complete the recommended course work will receive a Master of Science (MS) degree.

The program is designed to prepare students for continued research and doctoral studies or advanced careers in corporate, commercial, clinical, and/or community physical fitness and health promotion.

Please Note: All new graduate students MUST complete Form 6 (plan of study contract) their first semester of admission into the ESHP graduate program. These forms can be located below under each respective Master's Track (Exercise Physiology; Health Promotion; Strength & Conditioning).

Graduate FAQ

Q. Why an ESHP Masters degree from FAU?
A. One only has to look at our staff to realize the type of preparation a graduate from FAU's ESHP program will receive. Nowhere in South Florida will you find a group of health and exercise professionals that are more knowledgeable in the field of Exercise Science and Health Promotion.
Q. What will the ESHP Masters program prepare me to do?
A. The ESHP Masters program is designed to prepare its graduates for advanced positions in clinical, health, and fitness settings. The FAU ESHP program also places a strong emphasis on research and advanced studies.
Q. Will I be given credit for prior course work and life experience?
A. Yes, equivalent course work at other recognized institutions.
Q. How long does the ESHP Masters program take to complete?
A. On a full-time basis, the ESHP Masters degree program will take a minimum of three (3) semesters for the non-thesis and possibly longer for those who choose extended thesis projects. Most students complete the degree within two years.
