Ally Week

Ally Week

What is Ally Week?

Ally Week was established to further understanding and education on issues surrounding the LGBTQ+ community. Emphasis was placed on the education on understanding Trans and Non-Binary Identities and scheduling Safe Zone Ally Trainings for the FAU community. Over the years, the week continued its original focus with extra attention now directed at members of the FAU community interested in learning how to be best allies for the LGBTQ+ community and the students on the campuses. Workshops, presentations, and townhalls provided education by leading scholars and to celebrate the lived experiences of the community present.

Most recently, Ally Week has evolved and continues to educate the FAU community on how to best serve as allies for marginalized communities. Presentations and conversations focused on LGBTQ+ issues, Hispanic/Latina/o/x servingness, identifying the Black Diaspora, and Global Engagement. Topics vary during the week with focus placed the initiatives within the Center for IDEAs.
