Chief Sean Brammer

Chief Sean Brammer began his law enforcement career with the Florida Highway Patrol in 1997. While working for the Florida Highway Patrol he received numerous accolades for his dedication to law enforcement which includes, but is not limited to, Trooper of the Year. Chief Brammer joined the Florida Atlantic University Police Department in March of 2006, where he served and worked in many capacities.

During his 23-year career in law enforcement, he has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility. He possesses a solid record of efficiency, profitability and ethical standards that has contributed to his excellent reputation as he meets mission critical departmental objectives.

As Captain, he led the Operations and Support Divisions, overseeing the Uniform Division, the Police Communications Center, Training Division, Field Training Coordinator and Special Events. As the Field Training Coordinator, he updated and directed the rewriting of the Field Training Manual and created the first Standard Operating Procedures manual for the FAU Police Department Communications Division. He also designed the department’s first strategic plan outlining a five-year strategy to successfully recruit, hire and retain qualified candidates for employment. This plan focused on techniques in quality control such as identifying the departments Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT). The use of this technique enabled the department to maximize its Strengths, by placing emphasis on improving its Weaknesses, by taking command of all Opportunities while carefully analyzing any Threats to the Department and/or community.

He advanced through the ranks very quickly moving from Captain, to Major, to Deputy Chief of Police, and now he serves as the current Chief of Police. While under his command, the Police Department achieved for the first time in its history accreditation by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and is currently working on accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA).

Chief Brammer is a graduate of the prestigious Command Officer Development Course from the University of Louisville, (2010) and Barry University with a degree in Public Administration.
