Dr. Andrea Guzman Oliver
Dr. Andrea Guzman Oliver joined Florida Atlantic University as Associate Vice President for Student Outreach and Diversity in 2014. In this role, Dr. Oliver serves as a student advocate and helps lead efforts to provide a campus climate that supports diversity and inclusion, student success, personal development, and integrated student learning experiences. In addition, Dr. Guzman Oliver assists the Vice President for Student Affairs in implementing continuous improvement efforts, goal setting, strategic plans, assessment, and professional development programs within the Division of Student Affairs; consistent with the university's goals and mission. Dr. Guzman Oliver provides direct leadership and oversight to the office of diversity & multicultural affairs, military & veteran affairs, student activities and involvement; student government; student media; and campus life on our partner campuses.
Passionate about lifelong learning, she is a mentor in the Red Jacket Mentoring Project and serves on a number of university committees, which includes chairing the university-wide Diversity Platform Council. Dr. Guzman Oliver was awarded the “National Role Model Administrator Award” from Minority Access, Incorporated, and the “Patriotic Employer Award” from the Office of the Secretary of Defense in 2017. She was also showcased on the NENANI online periodical as a “Latina Woman in Leadership”.
Prior to Florida Atlantic University, Dr. Guzman Oliver worked for Wayne County Community College District in Detroit, Michigan for 12 years, where she last served as Chief Academic Officer and Provost of Health Sciences. In her spare time, Dr. Guzman Oliver enjoys cooking, listening to classical piano, going to the beach, and spending time with her husband and five children.
