Resource Center

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly study sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. SI is open to all students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades. Attendance is voluntary. For you the student, it's a chance to get together with people in your class to compare notes, to discuss important concepts, to develop strategies for studying and learning the subject, and to test yourself before your professor does. At each SI session, you will be guided through course material by your SI leader who has previously taken the course and earned an A.

FAU Tutoring Services, a CLASS program housed in General Class Room South, 2nd Floor, provides FREE group tutoring by peer tutors in content area courses. Peer tutors help improve performance in a difficult course by modeling effective study techniques and breaking down difficult concepts. Our peer tutors are successful students who have earned at least an A- in the courses they tutor, have been recommended by their professors, and have been trained in tutoring techniques through our tutor training program. Their goal is to help students review course content through the use of interactive learning strategies.

CLASS in collaboration with the Center for eLearning at FAU have developed eTutoring; a new initiative that officially kicked off through CLASS this semester. The idea is to offer students in fully online classes an opportunity to receive assistance in a course just as a student in a face-to-face course would receive. You can check the full list of courses available for eTutoring by clicking on the picture.

Math Learning Center

The Math Learning Center (MLC) was created to help FAU students develop the math problem solving skills so they have the confidence and ability to solve math problems on their own. At the MLC, there is tutoring available for Intermediate and College Algebra, Math for Liberal Arts, Statistics, Pre-calculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus courses. Exam review sessions are offered as well. You can check out the schedules for tutoring and exam review sessions by clicking on the picture left of this.

Center for Excellence in Writing (UCEW)

The University Center for Excellence in Writing supports and promotes writing for all members of the FAU community -- undergraduate and graduate students, staff, faculty and visiting scholars. The center's consultants are informed and sensitive readers who help writers become more reflective readers and more self-sufficient crafters of their written work. Consultants help students at any point in the writing process (i.e., brainstorming, drafting, revising) and with papers for courses, senior or master theses, dissertations, job applications, applications for graduate school, articles for publication, grant proposals and other documents.
