The recent FAU Davie Open House attracted its biggest attendance figures in years – with a total of 207 people spending time at the four hour Saturday morning event to learn about the fully accredited programs the three FAU Broward campuses offer to complete a bachelor’s degree.
The attendance numbers reflect the growing interest local state colleges have in FAU, and the partnership we have with Broward College and Miami Dade College helps facilitate the transfer process for so many of these students," said Jessica Velez-Lopez, Director of Transfer Recruitment & Link Program.
Of the 207 in attendance at this February 22 event, 132 were students. The FAU Davie One Stop Center on the first floor of the Liberal serviced 50 students.
Students met one-on-one with Admissions counselors and received information on financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
The FAU Davie Transfer Open House took advantage of the beautiful weather by hosting its check-in and the academic and student showcase outdoors. The opening session presentations, held in the Liberal Arts auditorium offered detailed advice on transferring to FAU and its Career Center.
The day included an FAU student panel, an academic colleges break out session, campus tours and a campus life showcase.
This Open House was a wonderful opportunity to show our community that a four-year degree from a public, research university is accessible to them, right here in Broward county or through our online programs," said Velez-Lopez. "Transferring to a four year-institution doesn't have to be complicated, or costly. Our staff is ready to provide the support transfer students need."
