Simon Glynn

Dr. Simon Glynn received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Manchester (U.K.), after receiving an M.A. in philosophy from McMaster University (Canada) and a B.A. in philosophy and politics from the University of Keele (U.K.), with subsidiary degree qualifications in economics and mathematics.

Dr. Glynn specializes in contemporary continental philosophy, philosophy of the human and social sciences, cultural analysis, social and political philosophy, philosophy of technology, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of the natural sciences.

He has published widely in journals such as The Journal of the British Society for Phenomenology, Continental Philosophy Review, The Journal of Applied Philosophy, Dialogue and Universalism, Human Studies, and Revista Alea and has also contributed numerous chapters to books in phenomenology, existential philosophy, environmental ethics, recent continental philosophy, hermeneutics, and philosophy of technology.  Dr. Glynn has edited two books, European Philosophy and the Human and Social Sciences (1986) and Sartre: An Investigation of Some Major Themes (1987) and co-edited the book Continental and Postmodern Perspectives in the Philosophy of Science (1995).

In addition to his membership in various philosophical organizations, Dr. Glynn has served on the Executive Committee of the British Society for Phenomenology and has served as peer reviewer on many professional journals in his areas of specialization.

Dr. Glynn has presented papers at numerous conferences that include the International Association for Philosophy and Literature, the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy, the British Society for Phenomenology, the International Society for Literature and Science, and the Society for Phenomenology and the Human Sciences, as well as having been invited to present lectures at universities worldwide.
