FAU's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters' Department of Visual Arts and Art History presents an exhibition featuring the works of graduating MFA candidates in the department. The exhibition will run from Friday, April 15 through Saturday, May 14 in the Schmidt Center Gallery, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, April 14 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm The opening reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
The exhibition will showcase works in collage, installation, interactive media, graphic design, photography, ceramics and painting. The artists include Talia Cervetti, Naghmeh Goodarzi, and Khaulah Naima Nuruddin.
- Cervetti's creative practice centers on exploring dream states and alternate worlds. She intuitively layers small figurative paper silhouettes onto fabric and into collages. The resulting work provides multiple narrative possibilities, reflecting ideas of wonder and movement within and between the physical and spiritual realms.
- Goodarzi explores her personal experience of social, cultural and psychological interactions between people in three different social media platforms through graphic design and photography.
- Nuruddin applies her exploration of texture and symbolic imagery to her paintings and ceramic structures to investigate psychologically lived spaces. Interested in the volatile nature of intimate relationships, she uses her own personal narratives to share her constructed visual language.
