Tuition costs and financial aid processes can serve as barriers to student success. At Florida Atlantic University, financial literacy efforts are helping to boost retention and degree completion rates.
With nearly 40% of students coming from low-income households, Florida Atlantic constructed a framework for long-term success by providing students with one-on-one FAFSA sessions, individually assigned financial aid counselors, a financial wellness program, debt management tools and more.
The result: Pell-eligible students outpace the University’s overall retention and graduation rates, and 83% of low-income students move up at least one income bracket within a year of graduating. Additionally, Florida Atlantic is ranked No. 26 in the nation for social mobility, No. 21 for Pell grant graduation rate performance, and No. 50 for graduates with the least debt.
