What is a FIG exactly?
Join a First-Year Interest Group (FIG) and get the inside scoop on what it takes to excel in your major!
You will meet faculty and staff, make friends, and get connected to YOUR specific college from day one while identifying your strengths, clarifying your goals, and developing the mindset and motivation to thrive at FAU.
Your FIG will include a one-credit, eight-week, face-to-face course that you will take with 25 students who are in similar majors.
Your FIG also includes FAU iSucceed*, our signature online success course. You will register yourself for your specific FIG and the program staff will register you for the online section. The on-line portion of the class (FAU: iSucceed, SLS 1410*) is common to all of the FIGS.
*If you successfully completed SLS 1410: FAU iSucceed in the summer, you will only participate in the face-to-face portion of your college-sponsored FIG.
In a FIG, you:
take a 1-credit course with 24 other students who share similar majors.
have a seminar class that will be led by faculty and advisors from your specific college.
have an opportunity to build relationships within your college as soon as classes begin.

*If you enrolled in the summer semester and successfully completed SLS 1410, you will not need to repeat the on-line lessons through this course, but you will still participate in all of the face-to-face classes in your college-specific FIG.

To join a FIG, you will register yourself for your college-sponsored FIG, using the registration information, including course schedules, found on the FIG Registration Information page.
There will be a course reference number (CRN) that is 5 digits and a section number for each FIG. You will just add the CRN or section number when you are registering yourself for your other courses making sure none of the class times conflist with each other.
When you have finalized your registration, a member of the FIG program staff will confirm your enrollment in the program and add the on-line portion of the course to your schedule right before Fall classes begin.
