The Owls Care interactive workshop series strives to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to be healthy and successful.  Please review the workshops we offer below and then scroll down to request a workshop for your group using the form.


Owls are ethical bystanders who do something when they see something. This interactive discussion helps students recognize the ways in which we can have a positive impact by watching out for each other.
During this presentation, students will:

  • Learn the key steps to being an ethical bystander
  • Identify reasons why bystanders are hesitant to intervene
  • Learn about resources they can turn to for assistance

Staying safe during sexual activity is vital information for all college students.
In this workshop, participants will:

  • Gain appropriate protective knowledge regarding methods of safer sex
  • Learn about sexual health on FAU’s campus
  • Practice skills related to safer sex methods
  • Discuss sexually transmitted infections.

College life is filled with challenges, many of which can be stressful. This workshop presents a realistic approach to managing stress as a college student.
During this presentation, students will:

  • Learn about the impact of stress
  • Recognize symptoms of stress
  • Practice stress management techniques

C.L.A.S.P. is a 90-minute upstander* training for suicide prevention. This training was developed by universities and colleges across Florida in order to empower students to have empathetic conversations with peers who may be showing signs of suicidal ideation and refer them to appropriate resources. These trainings are currently held virtually.


During this training students will:

  • Identify the importance of upstander training
  • Recognize prevalence, risk factors, and warning signs of suicide
  • Practice talking to a peer about suicide and other important skills
  • Discover on- and off-campus resources

We have 3 new nutrition presentations:


  1. Balanced Nutrition: In this presentation, the dietitian will list the various food groups and discuss how college students can have a balanced diet. Recipe and meal/snack ideas will be explored.
    • After this presentation, students will be able to list the 5 food groups and give a meal idea that’s nutritionally balanced.

  2. Stress and Nutrition: College and managing life can be quite a challenge. Though some stress is normal, poor stress management can have a negative effect on one’s relationship with food. In this talk we will discuss stress and nutrition and resources available for students to better support them.
    • Students will be able to identify at least 3 campus resources that can help with stress management

  3. Eating on a Budget: With the rising costs of living, food budgeting has become very difficult. In this talk, the dietitian will provide tips on grocery shopping for a balanced diet as well as strategies to save money.
    • Students will be able to identify at least one strategy for saving money grocery shopping.
