Welcome to the Weppner Center for Civic Engagement & Service! At the CCES, we are committed to recognizing community needs and working with students, faculty, and staff to fill those needs. We uphold the values of leadership, dedication, unity, and service, with the intent of fostering a humanitarian attitude in whom we serve.
The Mission of the Weppner Center for Civic Engagement & Service is to develop partnerships between the University and community by providing service opportunities to faculty, staff and students; and to promote the link between curriculum and service fostering civic awareness. The goal of the CCES is to inspire in all a greater appreciation for community service and the desire to continue working for the community beyond the college years. As a conduit between volunteers and outside organizations, we aim to offer relevant service opportunities and guidance to encourage compassion. Contact the CCES for information on how to receive updates on volunteer opportunities.
In addition to participating in volunteer activities sponsored by the Weppner Center for Civic Engagement & Service, faculty and students have the opportunity to combine coursework with the needs of the community through academic service-learning courses. These courses are designed to enrich the learning experience through hands-on activity and by teaching civic responsibility. Through the integration of instruction, community service, and reflection, learning becomes more personally meaningful. Inquire with the CCES for courses designated as academic service-learning.
We invite you to visit us at any time in our office in the Student Services building (SS8), room 225. We look forward to seeing you soon!
