Dr. J.A. Scott Kelso, Eminent Scholar in Science and founder of the Center for Complex Systems and Brain Science, was an invited speaker at The Eighth Olympiad of the Mind on "Brain Research: Improving Social Harmony" hosted by the National Academies in Washington, D.C., Nov. 15-16. Dr Kelso's talk was titled "The Complementary Nature of Brain~Mind: A New Principle of Brain Function."

Dr. William G. Nicoll, counselor education, was an invited keynote presenter at the International Conference on “Personality in the Context of Cognition, Emotionality and Motivation"
held Nov. 15 at Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia.

Dr. Tina Penhollow and master’s student Nori Carter, exercise science and health promotion, just published the peer-reviewed article, “College Weight Loss Intervention: Utilizing the theory of planned behavior and the transtheoretical model” in the latest issue of the Florida Association of Physical Education and Recreation Journal.

Carla Robinson, associate librarian, Treasure Coast campus, had an article titled “Working in a Joint-Use Library” published in The Journal of Access Services (Vol. 4, Number1/2 2006). The article is about the organization and management of the Treasure Coast Campus Library, which is a joint-use library with FAU, Indian River Community College and St. Lucie County Library.

Dr. Richard Shusterman, Eminent Scholar Chair in the Humanities, professor of philosophy and director of the Center for Body, Mind, and Culture, has received widespread publicity in France for his newest book, Body Consciousness: A Philosophy of Mindfulness and Somaesthetics (Cambridge University Press). He was featured on the front page of Le Monde’s weekly book review along with a full page devoted to his research, and in the weekly Le Point (the French analogue of Time/Newsweek) and Les Inrockuptibles (the French weekly counterpart of Rolling Stone). He also was on French national radio for a 50-minute interview.
