UMI Scholars

The UMI scholars program is focused on preparing urban male students between 60-90 credit hours, to face a challenging and ever changing post-graduate workforce. The UMI scholars program is aimed at developing and polishing the skills necessary for resume writing, interviewing, and professional etiquette, while focusing on the core values of critical thinking, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Students apart of this program will be required to complete program requirements, as listed below:

  • Have and maintain a GPA of a 2.75 or higher 

  • Maintain the Co-curricular transcript

  • Attend all 8 Core Programs 

    • Etiquette Dinner & Presentation 

    • Financial Budget & Accounting

    • Professionalism & Communication

    • Mock Interview 1 & 2  

    • Social Media & Networking

    • Dress for Success 

    • Executive Leadership Roundtable

  • Resume writing workshop series with the FAU Career Center

  • Attend meetings with assigned mentor

  • Attend signature programs

    • UMI Retreat

    •  UMI Statewide conference Mandatory 

  • Complete 25 study hours at UMI study hall monthly  

  • Participate in the Mid-semester Grade Check-in
