About the Teaching with Technology Showcase
Technology has infused education, and instructors have at their fingertips an overwhelming variety of choices in software, mobile apps, and Web-based resources. Beginning in 2009, FAU’s Office of Information Technology (formerly Information Resource Management) and the Center for eLearning, along with their college partners, have hosted an event called the "Teaching with Technology Showcase," which highlights how FAU faculty members are enhancing learning environments for their students by integrating technology into their classrooms.
Since 2009, the showcase has grown both in attendance and number of presentations. The Boca Raton, Davie, Jupiter, and Port St. Lucie campuses have all hosted the showcase.
Purpose and ObjectivesFAU’s Teaching with Technology Showcase facilitates dialogue among FAU faculty and the FAU community members about how to effectively use technology in the curriculum. Participants have the opportunity to learn how peers are incorporating technology into their classes. Colleagues discuss advantages and disadvantages of the various approaches as well as how pedagogical techniques can enhance and improve learning.
In summary, the event provides a unique opportunity to:
Showcase exemplary teaching talent on campus
Inspire faculty to use technology in innovative ways
Share best practices with university colleagues
Interact with technology vendors
