Dedicated to the play-making process through the development and production of new work in American theater, Theatre Lab creates a laboratory for seasoned theater professionals to share their work with students, faculty, and the entire community. The goal is to gain an in-depth understanding of every aspect of new play development. With the goal of making great theatre accessible, Theatre Lab brings thousands of community members together with the FAU faculty and student body, actively engaged by world-class professional theatre experiences, as well as project-based partnerships, workshops, conversations with artists, and other enrichment activities at the theater, across campus, and throughout the community.
In addition to the direct benefits for undergraduate and MFA students majoring in theatre , interdisciplinary programs with the departments of music and visual art , through the establishment of a Theatre Lab lobby gallery and pre- and post-show music performances, will expand exhibition and performance opportunities and further enhance a real expression of the FAU “cultural community”.
