Dances We Dance is a capstone experience for students enrolled in all genres and levels of dance in the Department of Theatre and Dance. FAU students create dances, learn choreography, work collaboratively, exhibit technical skills, explore expressiveness and give thrilling performances of dance in a wide array of genres.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is a musical that tells the bawdy tale of Pseudolus, a Roman slave who strives to win his freedom by helping his young master woo a the girl next door. The farcical plot twists and turns with slapstick humor, cases of mistaken identity, social satire and a bevy of attractive girls. The musical won several Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Book.

The Man Who Came to Dinner
A comedy in three acts, by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart
Radio personality Sheridan Whiteside, invited to dine at the house of a prominent Ohio family, slips on a patch of ice outside the front door and injures his leg. Following doctor’s orders, Whiteside is to remain confined to quarters, whereupon he delights in meddling with the lives of everyone in the household.

Side by Side by Sondheim
Music and lyrics by Steven Sondheim. Book by David Kernan
A musical revue, Side By Side By Sondheim, thematically ties together many of the famous composer/ lyricist’s best known songs. A narrator gives insight into the background, motivation and musical styles Sondheim used in the development of his work. Featured songs include Comedy Tonight, Love Is in the Air and Send in the Clowns, You Could Drive a Person Crazy and Side By Side By Side.

Tim Dial
received his M.F.A. from the University of Tennessee and is an
Associate Professor at FAU. Tim worked for many years with the
Clarence Brown Theatre Company in Knoxville and taught at the
University of Florida before moving to South Florida. Tim
was a long-time company member of the Utah Shakespearean Festival
when they received the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional
Theatre in 2000. Tim is a professional costume designer and
teaches costume design and costume technology. He designed
several productions for the Utah Shakespearean Festival, and in
his fleeting spare time is also a playwright; his play "Miracle"
has been produced by the University of Tennessee, Wichita State
University, and last spring by students at the University of
North Carolina, Wilmington. Tim was the first recipient of the
United States Institute for Theatre Technologies (USITT) Z.
Weisfeld Award.
