The School of Urban & Regional Planning offers three distinct degree programs designed to prepare students to excel in leadership roles in fields related to planning, policy making, and design in the government, business, and non-profit sectors. The common thread shared by all SURP academic programs is the emphasis on building outstanding analytical, communication and decision-making skills while developing a firm understanding of the structure, function and interrelatedness of societal systems.
In addition to the academic curriculum, SURP students have many opportunities outside of the classroom to gain valuable exposure to real-world scenarios. Planning Abroad, lectures, outreach and civic-engagement programs, and the various activities organized by FAPS are accessible to all SURP students.
Completing a degree at the School of Urban & Regional Planning not only prepares a student for professional success, but also opens the doors to a network of successful alumni around the world. SURP alumni share both pride in completing the rigorous coursework associated with SURP degree programs and the special experience of learning and studying in one of the most dynamic metropolitan laboratories in the world: South Florida.
