Counseling and psychological services are provided at no charge for students attending Florida Atlantic University. The professionally trained staff seeks to assist students with a wide range of personal concerns and problems. Students receive help dealing with issues such as test anxiety, stress, procrastination, poor assertiveness, and low self-esteem, as well as more serious issues including depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, childhood sexual abuse, and sexual assault.
Couples and family counseling are also available at no charge as long as an enrolled FAU student is an active participant in the sessions. Group counseling and limited psychological testing services are also provided when appropriate.
Counseling is held in strict confidence in keeping with accepted professional practice and Florida statutes. If you are experiencing an emotional crisis and would like to speak to someone immediately, please call the Broward County Mobile Crisis Unit at 954-463-0911. There is someone available 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
If you are in immediate danger, please dial 911.
