Dear Parents,

FAU is committed to creating a safe and healthy learning environment for your son and daughter to obtain the very best college education. In that regard we have developed campus wide prevention programs to reduce substance abuse.
We offer students counseling services to help them address their substance abuse problems. Because of confidentiality we can only speak with parents when we have a signed release from students; however, we strive to be supportive and answer questions. We
also work closely with parents and families when a referral to inpatient or structured outpatient services are needed.

The Cool Spot
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) released
a new version of "The Cool Spot," a website for middle-school children
(11- to 13-year-olds). "The Cool Spot" uses engaging games and graphics
to deliver important messages about the risks of underage drinking and
ways to resist peer pressure.

An online quiz for parents to test their child's knowledge of the risks associated with marijuana use before they get behind the wheel.
