Student Health Services provides students with quality primary/preventive health care, along with health and wellness education and first aid. Student Health Services is entirely supported thought the nonrefundable student health fee, and offers services on the Boca Raton campus, as well as the Jupiter, Broward and Treasure Coast areas. All FAU students who are enrolled in the current semester are eligible for services at any location. Students must present a valid photo ID to utilize services.

Boca Raton Student Health Services
The Boca Raton campus Student Health Services (SHS) is staffed by board-certified physicians, advanced registered nurse practitioners, registered nurses, a board-certified dentist, dental hygienist, health and wellness educators and well trained support staff to serve your health care and health education needs. SHS is funded by the Student Health Fee, part of each student's tuition.

Services Provided
There is no charge at Student Health Services for general medical office visits. Laboratory tests needed to assist in diagnosis and follow-up are available at reduced fees. Medications are available at reduced fees in the Boca clinic. Health education/prevention programs offered by Today and Beyond Wellness Program are offered at no charge to students, faculty and staff. Free HIV testing is offered twice per month. Men’s and women’s health services are offered including annual exams, STD testing, contraception and emergency contraception, and breast examinations ( Mammograms and ultrasounds are not done in the student health clinic).

Insurance
Students are strongly encouraged to have health insurance coverage. If you are not covered by your family health insurance plan and you want coverage, FAU sponsors accident and sickness polices for domestic and international students. For more information see our Insurance information.

FAU Pharmacy is open for business!
The new FAU Pharmacy, located on the Boca Raton campus, opened its doors March 2005! The FAU Pharmacy is a modern, state-of-the-art facility located near Student Health Services (Building SS-8, Room 223, on the 2nd floor above the Breezeway Food Court). Services available for all students, faculty and staff include: Outpatient prescription services, individual consultation with a pharmacist, medication education sheets and a full line of over-the-counter products. Dental Health
Let us make you smile! An appointment with the dentist is free. Cleanings, x-rays, fillings, bondings and home care flouride treatments are also provided for a reduced fee. Appointments with the Dentist are available every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Cleaning and x-ray appointments are available Monday through Friday. Dental Information
A consultation by the dentist is provided at no additional charge. Cleaning and x-rays are also provided for a reduced fee by appointment only. For treatment other than those listed above, referrals are made to community dentists, where the student is responsible for payment for services.

Broward Campuses

Jupiter Campus

FAU Student Health Services for MacArthur campus students is located on the Jupiter Medical Center campus, south entrance.
Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., during the semester.
No appointment is necessary. Students requiring emergency services or medical treatment after hours, or during semester break weeks, will be responsible for payment.

Treasure Coast Campus Services Relocated

Student Health Services is very pleased to announce that primary medical services are now being provided close to the Treasure Coast campus by Lisa Rankin, M.D. Dr. Rankin, who is board certified in family practice medicine, offers medical office visits for illnesses, injuries and preventative care to registered students. Please contact her office to schedule an appointment and identify yourself as a registered FAU student. The cost of a routine office visit is covered by your student health fee, part of your semester's tuition.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center helps students with social, emotional and academic concerns in a sensitive, caring and confidential manner. The staff consists of highly experienced licensed psychologists, clinical social workers, a board-certified psychiatrist, counseling specialists, alcohol and drug counselors, counseling specialists and counselors at advanced levels of training in psychology and social work. Appointments can be arranged by calling. The Counseling Center at the Boca Raton campus can be reached at 561-297-3540. The Center is located in the Student Services Building (above the Cafeteria) in Room 229S. The Counseling Center for Broward is located on the Davie Campus, 2912 College Avenue, Modular 381, 954-236-1210. The Counseling Center for the Northern Campuses may be reached at 561-799-8698 and is located on the MacArthur Campus in the Library/Classroom Building, Room 139.

Insurance for Students

Florida Atlantic University sponsors a student injury and sickness excess insurance plan for both domestic and international students. The plan brochure is available at the Boca Raton Student Health office in the Health Services Building, Room 240.
International students must show proof of insurance to the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (561) 297-3049.
