Students who are Social Work majors and express an interest in working with elders are encouraged to consider this certificate program. Completion of this program will provide students with a specific knowledge and skill base for a range of job opportunities with a diverse elder population. This certificate is open only to B.S.W. students.
Program Requirements: Upon completion of the following requirements, the student will be awarded the Aging Certificate:
- Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Social Work.
- Completion of a three-credit course entitled Social Work with Aging Populations (SOW 4643).
- Completion of two approved three-credit courses in the School of Social Work’s Aging Certificate Program.
- Completion of one BSW field internship (12 credit hours), approved by the School of Social Work, with specialized service outreach to diverse elders.
