Mary Ann Feldheim

Congratulations Mary Ann Feldheim (Ph.D. ‘97)!

Mary Ann Feldheim has been a faculty member in public administration at the University of Central Florida since 1996. After being promoted to Associate Professor in 2004, she became the Interim Department Chair in 2005, Department Chair in 2006, and School Director in 2011.

Under her stewardship public administration at UCF has grown in multiple ways. First, there are now six degree programs being offered along with six graduate certificates. Secondly, the student enrollment has doubled since 2005 with close to 1000 students enrolled in these programs. Third, the creation of the Center for Public and Nonprofit Management in 2008 allowed public administration faculty members to secure over $4 million in grant funding and to provide capacity building services to close to 100 nonprofit organizations in Central Florida.

During this time faculty productivity has grown significantly, as faculty members and students publish in the top journals on a consistent basis and present at conferences around the world. Peer recognition has come to public administration at UCF with the national ranking of its Master of Public Administration and its Master of Nonprofit Management. Mary Ann believes that her most important contribution has been the fostering of a collaborative, supportive, vibrant, and engaged culture where faculty and students collaboratively conduct research, publish, and impact public service in the region.

In addition, Mary Ann has been very active professionally in the advancement of nonprofit management education. She has been served as a Board Member and Chair of the NASPAA Nonprofit Section, and currently she is the Chair-Elect of the ARNOVA Teaching Section. Collaboration and synergy among the professional organizations that focus on nonprofit management is her personal goal, and she has been active in the creation of the ASPA Nonprofit Section.

Tony Pustizzi

Tony Pustizzi, An MPA graduate, as Coral Spring Police Chief

Chief Pustizzi began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1988 as a patrol officer, was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1995, to the rank of captain in 2002 and then to Deputy Chief in 2005. Chief Pustizzi was sworn in as Chief of Police on March 16, 2012 by City Manager Erdal Dönmez.

The Coral Springs Police Department has a diverse workforce with an authorized strength of 208 police officers and 100 civilian members, serving approximately 127,000 residents. It is nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies as well as at the state level through the Florida Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation
