Environmental Sociology
3 Credit Hours
Course Focus
Sociology offers a necessary framework for understanding how the structure and logic of our society (in particular our political-economic system and related ideologies) contributes to this environmental degradation. Unlike natural science, which concerns itself with finding very specific technical solutions, sociology allows us to examine the big picture and analyze the linkages between our social activities and our environmental realities and thus suggesting that we must look not just toward technical fixes but a reorganization of the macro-level structures of society.
