Don't Post Your Rep Away: Text, Sext & Internet Safety

Join Program Board and Alpha Delta Pi for this significant event, two organizations who think this is a topic worth talking about! In this day and age with the prevalence of social media, it is becoming increasingly important for students to be educated about the lasting impact social media can have on their personal and professional lives. Dr. Sameer Hinduja's presentation stresses the importance of online reputations and the (mis)use of Facebook.  University students need to know that what they post or send in cyberspace will remain there for a long time - even after they delete those provocative pictures or inappropriate messages. The session covers the negative implications that stem from carelessness or foolishness on the Internet, and how it can affect athletic participation, undergraduate and post-graduate admission, work opportunities, and social relationships. Cyberbullying, sexting, and electronic dating violence are also discussed in a way that is highly relevant to this particular population.

This is event is FREE for all attendees and located in the Carole & Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium in the Student Union on the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University.
