Introducing the 2010 - 2011
Elite Owls

Boris Bastidas

 Political Science, Junior

Boris, from Sunrise, Florida, started at FAU in fall 2008. When he stepped foot on campus he made it a priority to get involved and make his college experience his own. Being a political science major has really driven the types of things Boris gets involved with. He joined the College Democrats and he is the current club president. In addition to his political involvement on campus he has served as volunteer on many community, state-wide, and national political campaigns. Boris says that being involved has taught him so much about how the university functions. Boris also found his niche as an active policy making member of the Boca House of Representatives. Boris states that being involved student has afforded him many exciting experiences and now as an Elite Owl he hopes he can help others say the same.

Jordan Chang
Political Science, Junior

Jordan, from Kingston, Jamaica, is now in his third year here at FAU. Being from another country Jordan did not have opportunities in high school to get involved and develop leadership skills. Going to college Jordan knew he was going to seek those opportunities that he never had in Jamaica. Through his involvement in a freshmen learning community, Student Alumni Association, Student Government, cultural clubs and orientation Jordan says, he has had the ability to mature greatly. Getting involved and becoming a leader was something he always wanted to do and is thankful that at FAU he has had that opportunity. The combination of all the things Jordan has participated he says has given him a new sense of confidence.

Jennifer Joseph
Biomedical Sciences, Senior

Jennifer, from Margate, Florida, became an FAU Owl in fall 2007 and after spending a semester of just attending to class she wanted to take more away from her college experience. The following spring she jumped head first in to getting involved and became a 2008 orientation leader. In addition that year she became an executive board member of Black Student Union and Multicultural Programming. She not only got involved but started to give back to the FAU community by serving as a campus tour guide and going on to be a 2009-2010 Resident Assistant in Heritage Park Towers. As a founding member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society and a busy FAU student Jennifer says these things have taught her about herself and she hopes in her role as an Elite Owl she will be a remarkable leader and mentor.

Michelle Lauber

Secondary English Education, Junior

Michelle, from Ft. Myers, Florida, arrived at FAU in fall 2008. In high school Michelle was very involved, and she knew that at college she wanted to do the same. She became very interested in obtaining membership in sorority. That fall Michelle participated in formal recruitment and her time at FAU has only gotten better since. Michelle says that through her involvement in her sorority she is able to understand how to effectively use the resources that are made available to her. Through her membership she has improved her organizational skills, better manages stress, and has developed life-long friendships. Also through her membership she learned the importance of mentorship. Michelle states that she has been able to break out of her comfort zone because of her experiences and she hopes to be able to help many other students do the same.

Michaele Antoine

Michaele Antoine
International Business/Intercultural Communication, Senior

Michaele, originally from Quebec, Canada, became an owl in the fall of 2006. Living on campus her first year Michaele got quickly involved in the Resident Student Association and took on the role as secretary/treasurer. The Resident Student Association catapulted Michaele. She went on to be the first acting president of the National Resident Hall Honorary and she also represented FAU on the Florida Association of Residence Halls. In addition to being an active on-campus resident Michaele took on the role as Resident Assistant in 2008, a role she still holds. She loves being able to impact the on-campus living experiences of FAU students. Michaele is happy she has been able to give back to FAU in various capacities but now as she enters her senior year she wants to inspire other to find their niche and become great leaders as well.
