Britni Hiatt
Britni Hiatt-- from Lake Worth, Florida-- is a rising senior studying Women/Gender/Sexuality Studies and Art Criticism at the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University. She transferred to the Jupiter campus from the Boca Raton campus in Fall 2011. From this background, she currently acts as a liaison for the Jupiter and Boca Raton campuses for the Elite Owls. Under her leadership as Co-Founder and Co-President of the undergraduate club Feminist Student Union, the club was recognized by the Council of Student Organizations at FAU as the New Student Organization of the Year for 2012. During summer 2012, Britni worked as the Social Media and Public Outreach Correspondent for the Sea Level Rise Summit and Program Assistant for the Scripps Howard Institute on the Environment and Science with the Center for Environmental Studies at FAU. Britni is a journalist for a magazine on ecological resistance and freelances with feminist blogs. Britni's future plans include writing her senior thesis, finishing her illustrative graphic novel, and applying for graduate school.
Kayla Woody
Kayla is a junior majoring in Elementary Education and is very active on campus. Kayla is one of our Elite Owls as well as a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Kappa Delta Pi, and the Student Alumni Association. Kayla has been a proud member of Alpha Delta Pi since fall 2010 and has held positions including Spirit Chair and she is currently the Director of Social Enrichment on the Executive Board. She just recently was honored to be initiated into the Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi and has been a member of our Student Alumni Association since her freshman year. Kayla was born in Littleton, Colorado and lived there until she moved to Oviedo, FL in 2004. She just recently moved back to Aurora, Colorado and currently resides there when not here at school. Kayla loves helping her community whenever possible. Some ways she is involved are through Up Til Dawn with her sorority and the FAU community, which is an organization that helps raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. She also is involved in raising money for Relay for Life and just donated 11 inches of her hair this last Spring. She loves to work with her philanthropy the Ronald McDonald House, making dinners, and helping with their big fundraising events.
Shante Brown
Shante Brown is a Senior at the Boca Raton campus of FAU. She has her Associates of the Arts degree in Multimedia Journalism and is currently working to her attain her Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing and Advertising with a minor in Theatre Arts. Shante is originally from Brooklyn, New York but, now resides in North Lauderdale, FL. In Fall 2011, she went through formal sorority recruitment and became and initiated sister of Alpha Delta Pi. Currently, Shante serves as the Public Relations officer for her sorority as well as the Marketing officer for Delta Sigma Pi, a co-ed business professional fraternity. Last semester, she was initiated into the National Leadership Honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa. She spent the recent summer as an ambassador for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and volunteering with the youth at her church. After graduation, Shante plans to move to Orlando and take on a professional internship in the Marketing department at Walt Disney World as well as pursue her acting career.
John Maher
John Maher is a senior working towards his BFA in acting at FAU, before he became an elite owl, John was a part of other organizations such as Owl Radio as a DJ, New Student and Owl Family Programs as an Orientation Leader, as well as being a Night Owls driver. He is currently the President of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and President of Too Much Improv. John is also a founding father of the Zeta chapter of the Fraternal Values Society and is currently a House Representative for student government while having over 350hr of community service at FAU. After he graduates he wants to pursue his Film career in LA while getting his MFA in Acting.
