ALL student organizations MUST re-register every academic year. If your student organization does not register by the deadline, your student organization will be considered inactive and your Student Government budget will be re-allocated to the Senate Contingency Fund. Registered Student Organizations Responsibilities

 

RSOs are afforded privileges and resources at FAU and, in exchange, are required to adhere to and fulfill the following requirements as conditions of recognition.

 

Registered Student Organizations will:

  • Complete the annual registration process with SIL by submitting all required information, including a complete roster list and updated constitution
  • All student organizations must submit a roster with a minimum of 10 members and all members must be currently enrolled FAU students
  • Attend the annual Student Leadership Conference and the Hazing Prevention Summit (both events are in September)
  • Follow and abide by all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and all policies and procedures at Florida Atlantic University, including the FAU Student Code of Conduct and the Student Organization Handbook
  • Remain in good standing with all aspects of FAU (Student Union, SGA, campus departments, etc) and conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with the Mission of the University
  • Adhere to the rules and procedures set forth in the organization constitution, including the non-discrimination and non-hazing requirements for membership
  • Meet all fiscal obligations incurred by the student organization and abide by the SG processes and procedures as set forth by the SG Accounting and Budgeting Office
  • Ensure proper planning and execution of organization events, and consult with the SIL staff for help with event policies and contract management
  • Provide adequate training during the officers transition process
  • Each organization must have an advisor who serves as a full-time faculty or staff member of FAU
  • Establish consistent communication with the organization advisor and keep advisor information of organization activities and decisions
  • Ensure proper use of campus resources, including meeting and event space, and other afforded benefits to the organization
  • All student organizations will be assigned a mailbox in the SIL Clubhouse area. Your organization is expected to check the mailbox on a regular basis (at least twice per week). Student Involvement and Leadership will put important notices and correspondences in the box.

 

Registered Student Organizations privileges:

  • Use of FAU facilities, equipment, and services
  • Use of services available in the Clubhouse, including free copies, balloons and helium, poster board, and more
  • Ability to apply for/receive funding from COSO (a program of Student Government)
  • Access to leadership development training and resources for your organization
  • Included on FAU’s list of Registered Student Organizations (through the SIL website)
  • Eligible for awards and honors presented to student organizations and its members at the annual SOAR Banquet
  • Participate as a team in Homecoming week events
  • Display approved flyers in approved campus locations (through the SIL website)
  • Post announcements on MyFAU
  • Participate in Club Fest and other recruitment events
